Bude is a seaside resort on the north coast of Cornwall just 4 miles from the Devon border and was built around the mouth of the River Neet and parallel Bude Canal. The countryside surrounding Bude is very picturesque and offers holidaymakers great outdoor activities like walking, cycling, bird watching and golf.
Bude has miles of golden beaches surrounded by stunning cliffs and countryside. The central Summerleaze beach is a wide sandy beach and is popular with surfers, there are rockpools and cliff walks with it being on the South West Coastal Path. North of Bude is the popular surfing beach of Crooklets with waves to suit all levels. A couple of miles south of Bude is Widemouth Bay a large sandy expanse great for swimming, sunbathing, surfing or investigating the marine life amongst the rock pools. There are several other bays and coves to explore along this area of coastland with lots of hire shops for surfing gear and bikes.

In Bude by the canal at Lower Wharf is the Bude-Stratton Town Museum with exhibits to do with the Bude Canal which was dug in 1825 to transport sand and seaweed to improve North Cornwalls acid soil and slate and granite for export.
Bude Castle behind the museum was built in 1830 by the Victorian inventor Sir Goldsworthy Gurney and today is a heritage centre and education centre with commanding views over Summerleaze Beach.
The town and area are very popular with holiday visitors throughout the year but especially during the summer months as there is a lot for families to enjoy. There are many excellent attractions close by from adventure parks to Bude castle, The Big Sheep day out and Dinscott Tank & Military Collection to name a few.
