St Mawes lies at the mouth of the Percuil Estuary across the water from Falmouth its picturesque views and simple harbour adding to its charm. Most people tend to come to see St Mawes Castle which was built during the reign of Henry VIII and is in pristine condition due to the early surrender when under attack from General Fairfax’s Parliamentary forces in 1646.
